FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: APRIL 25, 2016

LADUE LADIES LUNCH ANNOUNCES THEIR 6TH ANNUAL LUNCHEON

Calgary, ALTA: Whether you are ranch-raised and wear cowgirl boots 365 days a year, or a city slicker who dusts off those boots in the back of your closet for just a select few days a year, you are welcome to join in the celebration of fearless, unapologetically female, and free-spirited women of our past, present and future at the 6th Annual LaDue Ladies Lunch (LLL). The event will take place on Thursday July 7th in the Crystal Ballroom of the Iconic Palliser Hotel in Calgary.

Honouring Our Past – Flores LaDue’s Name Holds Strong in Today’s World

The LaDue Ladies Lunch, founded in 2011 to honour the life of Flores LaDue has since raised and donated over $100,000 in scholarships and charitable funding in the name of the woman who dared to challenge the social bonds that attempted to hold her back.

LaDue Ladies Lunch President, Alison Keene, has been an integral part of spearheading the organization and is happy to see the efforts of the many women that have been involved along the way result in a successful event.

“The recognition and growth of our event since we officially established in 2011 has been very rewarding. Our event has become a do not miss favorite which is sold out weeks in advance. From the onset our goal was to bring greater awareness and sense of appreciation of Flores LaDue and women like her past and present,” said Keene.

Honouring Our Present – The Honourable Rona Ambrose Scheduled to Speak

The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Interim Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, Leader of the Official Opposition in the House of Commons, and no stranger to the luncheon, will be the guest speaker this year to address the crowd of 275 women (and sometimes a few brave men).

Recognized as the youngest woman to be appointed to cabinet in Canadian history, Keene says Ambrose couldn’t be a more perfect fit to speak at the event and says the foundation is extremely grateful that she accepted the invitation.

“When I look around the room I am so proud that we have been able to gather together women from our community to honour and celebrate those early day cowgirls and each other,” said Keene.

Honouring Our Future – Strong Field of Applicants for the LaDue Ladies Scholarships

Each year the LaDue Ladies Lunch awards scholarships to inspiring young women who exhibit traits Flores herself would have been proud of. This year, eight scholarships will be awarded in amounts totaling $10,000! Since the LLL started awarding scholarships, the organizations has recognized future veterinarians, pharmacists, business women and of course talented cowgirls that all stood out as women with undeniable spirit!

Careful deliberation is taken to judge each of the 29 scholarships that were submitted this year. Each of the young women who submitted applications have excelled in their own right. Winners of the scholarships will be announced on May 1st, so stay tuned to see who will become a part of the elite group of young women that will carry the LaDue name proudly!

“Naturally this year we would like to raise even more funds to be able to expand the size of our scholarship program and include even more women’s charitable organizations on our recipients list. Our intention is always to have a lot of fun and hope our guests enjoy the new additions to our program and have even more fun than in the past,” said Keene.

Tickets for the 6th Annual LaDue Ladies Lunch will go on sale by April 30. They can be purchased for the early bird price of $110.00 until May 31. Click here for more information.
